The Line: Anaheim Ducks / Edmonton Oilers --- Over/Under: 5.5 See the Latest Odds

Friday night NHL action features Pacific rivals the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks taking the ice at the Honda Center.

The Edmonton Oilers have been struggling to put anything together and that trend has to be reversed with points needed in bunches to save the season. Edmonton comes off of a 5-2 defeat  at the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday where both ends of the ice struggled. The Oilers received second period goals from Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid who also had an assist.

The balanced Kings offense saw five different players record goals with Kyle Clifford, Adrian Kempe, Paul LaDue, Alex Iafallo and Anze Kopitar all finding the back of the net. Trevor Lewis and Drew Doughty added two helpers apiece for Los Angeles to make a winner of Darcy Kuemper and his 25 stops while Cam Talbot made 23 saves in defeat.

The Anaheim Ducks were playing some of their best hockey heading in to the All Star break but had dropped three in a row before getting back in the win column with a 4-3, OT win at the Buffalo Sabres. Buffalo received goals from Zemgus Girgensons, Jack Eichel and Ryan O’Reilly with Robin Lehner allowing four goals on 33 shots.

The balanced Anaheim offense produced regulation goals off the sticks of Rickard Rakell, Ondrej Kase and Corey Perry before Adam Henrique lit the lamp 1:36 in to the extra session to secure the two points. Ryan Miller picked up the win for the Ducks with a 30 save performance.

Over is 4-0 in Oilers last 4 vs. Western Conference and over is 4-0 in Oilers last 4 overall and oilers are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. a team with a losing record. Over is 5-0 in Ducks last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record and Ducks are 6-1 in their last 7 home games and Ducks are 5-1 in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and Oilers are 4-11 in the last 15 meetings in Anaheim and Oilers are 12-31 in the last 43 meetings.

Although Anaheim hasn’t bolted from the gates in the second half yet I believe they still have the edge here…
