The Line: New York Rangers +113 / Calgary Flames -125 --- Over/Under: 5.5 See the Latest Odds
The New York Rangers look to snap out of their losing funk as they welcome the Calgary Flames to MSG on Friday night.
The Calgary Flames look to stay hot on the road as they head into Madison Square Garden to take on the Rangers who have dropped four games in a row and are quickly sliding out of the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. The Flames have cooled off a bit as they have lost six of their last eight games and haven’t had any success playing against the Rangers but they do have some nice trends working in their favour as they are 4-0 in their last four road games against a team with a winning record at home. Calgary looks to be playoff bound and can certainly jump into the discussion as a Cup contender if they can add a piece at the trade deadline. Mike Smith is expected to get the call here as he will face off against Henrik Lundqvist who has had a tough season in the Big Apple.

The Rangers have dropped six of their last seven games and run the risk of missing out on the playoffs for the first time since 2010 and they have already come out and said they are likely to be sellers at the trade deadline. New York is likely to move on from some longstanding pieces, namely Rick Nash, who has been a part of the rental market in previous seasons and looks like he will be joining a new team for a playoff push throughout the month of March. New York is 3-9 in their last 12 Friday games and 15-7 in their last 22 home games and get a Flames side here who has been strong on the road but has struggled over the last couple of weeks.
The Flames are 6-2 in their last eight against the Metro and and have hit the over in four of their last five while the Blue Shirts are winless in four and have dropped five of six playing on one day’s rest. The Flames are the better team but New York is desperate and with the Flames in a back to back I like the Rangers as a home dog.
