The Pittsburgh Penguins look to stay red hot as they welcome the Los Angeles Kings to won who were absolutely thrashed in Carolina in their last outing.
The Kings look to shake off a loss to the Hurricanes in which they conceded seven goals but things don’t get any easier for them here as they head into Pittsburgh to take on the two time defending champions and a group who looks poised for another deep playoff run in the Eastern Conference. The Kings made a move by acquiring veteran defenseman Dion Phaneuf from the Ottawa Senators in hopes a change of scenery will spark he and the Kings alike as the one time Western Conference powerhouse is looking to jump back into the mix in the Pacific division, and a win here would certainly help their cause. Los Angeles is expected to send Jonathan Quick to the crease here while Matt Murray will counter for the Penguins as he looks as though he is back in full health and ready for a late season surge.

The Penguins meanwhile have a staggering 55-18 record in their last 73 home games and catch a Kings side here that is 3-9 in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record which bodes well for them to extend their home ice success. Pittsburgh is led offensively by the likes of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Phil Kessel but the secondary pieces have been crucial to Pittsburgh’s championship mentality over the last two seasons and with the trade deadline just around the corner I think we can expect the Pens to bring in a couple of extra bodies in hopes of getting back to the Cup final. The Penguins are a disappointing 1-4 in their last five games against the Kings and the road team is 7-3 in their last 10 matchups so the Kings at a juicy price might be worth a look.
The Kings are 2-5 in their last seven against the Metro and winless in their last four Thursday games while the Penguins are 7-2 in their last nine and 29-10 in their last 39 at home against a team with a winning record. Pittsburgh has struggled with the Kings but they reverse their fortune here in a regulation victory.
