The Edmonton Oilers look to snap their four game losing streak as they head into Sin City for their second road matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights this season.

The Oilers celebrated a win and Connor McDavid’s 21st birthday the last time they were in Las Vegas for a show down with the Knights and they are hoping for a repeat in this one as their season quickly unravels as we have hit the middle of February. Edmonton has had great success against teams from the Pacific division as they are 31-13 in their last 44 against division rivals but they have been dreadful on the road and haven’t had a great season overall as they continue to be one of the league’s biggest disappointments. Edmonton is 2-7 in their last nine away from home but they do have 21 wins in their last 29 tries on Thursday night and will face off against a Knights side who is playing very well this season but has struggled with consistenc over the last couple of weeks.

USA TODAY Sports

The Knights head into tonight’s game with a sparkling 20-6 record at home and have 22 wins in their last 31 games but they have succumbed to a handful of losses as a pretty big home favourite and that is exactly the trap they fall into here tonight. The Knights are 1-4 in their last five games following a win but they have won 11 of their last 12 against Pacific division foes and have the roster to keep the Oilers offense in check as that is the likely game plan for Edmonton here as they will have to rely on the depth and fire power they have up top. The Knights could very well be buyers at the trade deadline and with a few Oilers pieces likely to move this could be an audition for some guys as Vegas GM George McPhee will have a keen eye out.

The Oilers are winless in their last four against the West and 4-12 in their last 16 playing on two day’s rest while the Knights are 16-5 in their last 21 on a day’s rest and 10-4 in their last 14 against a team with a losing record. Edmonton is a nice play here based on value but getting two wins in Vegas seems to be impossible and I will side with the over here as it looks like the goal judges will be busy.
