NHL action comes to the Gila River Arena where the Arizona Coyotes host the Edmonton Oilers.
The Edmonton Oilers have their backs against the wall with their playoff hopes getting further and further away. Edmonton has dropped five consecutive contests following a 4-1 defeat at the Vegas Golden Knights where the offense saw Leon Draisaitl score in the third.

The balanced Golden Knights featured scoring off the sticks of Ryan Carpenter, Jonathan Marchessault, William Karlsson and Erik Haula with David Perron adding two assists. Marc-Andre Fleury picked up the win for Vegas with 28 stops while Cam Talbot absorbed the loss with four goals allowed on 28 shots.
The Arizona Coyotes have enjoyed sporadic success in 2017-18 but have been playing their best hockey of the season. Arizona has won four of five where both ends of the ice have contributed. The Coyotes come in off of a 5-2 win against Montreal with Brendan Gallagher and Daniel Carr scored third period goals for the Habs.
Brendan Perlini paced the Coyotes offensive burst with a pair of goals with Clayton Keller, Tobias Rieder and Josh Archibald also reaching the scoring column. Keller and Oliver Ekman-Larsson each contributed three assists and Antti Raanta stopped 34 for shots for Arizona. Carey Price was charged with all five goals on 21 shots to get the loss for Montreal.
Oilers are 0-5 in their last 5 vs. Western Conference and Oilers are 0-4 in their last 4 vs. Pacific and Oilers are 0-4 in their last 4 road games. Over is 4-0 in Coyotes last 4 Saturday games and over is 5-0 in Coyotes last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and over is 5-0 in Coyotes last 5 vs. a team with a losing record. Oilers are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in Arizona and Oilers are 10-26 in the last 36 meetings and under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.
Given the way each team has been playing I think I’d go with the hotter Coyotes or look elsewhere…
