The Buffalo Sabers also need a win here after splitting their last 12 games. The Buffalo Sabers are averaging 2.4 goals per game and are scoring on 17.5 percent of their power play opportunities. Jack Eichel leads Buffalo with 22 goals, Ryan O'Reilly has 30 assists and Kyle Okposo has 133 shots on goal. Defensively, the Buffalo Sabers are allowing 3.2 goals per game and are killing 78.9 percent of their opponents power plays. Robin Lehner has given up 127 goals on 1,397 shots faced and Chad Johnson has allowed 70 goals on 687 shots. The Buffalo Sabers have allowed three or more goals in eight of their last 11 games.
The Flames are 1-4 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest, 1-7 in their last 8 Wednesday games and 0-4 in their last 4 overall. The Sabres are 8-18 in their last 26 home games, 6-20 in their last 26 Wednesday games and 20-46 in their last 66 games following a win. The Flames are 1-11 in the last 12 meetings in Buffalo, the home team is 18-3 in the last 21 meetings and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
I usually fade the Buffalo Sabres whenever I can, but right now I can't back the Calagary Flames in their current form, as they've lost four straight, can't get stops defensively and have had zero success over the years playing in Buffalo. The Buffalo Sabers struggles are well documented, but they've found ways to sprinkle in some victories the last few weeks and are acutally playing better hockey than the Flames right now. I'll back the home team in one of the rare times I consider Buffalo as an option.
