The St. Louis Blues and San Jose Sharks meet Thursday in NHL action at the SAP Center.
The St. Louis Blues could use a feel good victory after losing eight of their last nine games. The St. Louis Blues are averaging 2.7 goals per game and are scoring on 15.5 percent of their power play opportunities. Vladimir Tarasenko leads St. Louis with 26 goals, Brayden Schenn has 33 assists and Jaden Schwartz has 109 shots on goal. Defensively, the St. Louis Blues are allowing 2.7 goals per game and are killing 81.5 percent of their opponents power plays. Jake Allen has given up 116 goals on 1,209 shots faced and Carter Hutton has allowed 51 goals on 771 shots. The St. Louis Blues have allowed three or more goals in seven of their last nine games.

The San Jose Sharks also need a victory here after splitting their last 10 games. The San Jose Sharks are averaging 2.9 goals per game and are scoring on 21 percent of their power play opportunities. Logan Couture leads San Jose with 27 goals, Brent Burns has 42 assists and Joe Pavelski has 186 shots on goal. Defensively, the San Jose Sharks are allowing 2.7 goals per game and are killing 84.7 percent of their opponents power plays. Aaron Dell has given up 61 goals on 708 shots faced and Martin Jones has allowed 110 goals on 1,313 shots. The San Jose Sharks have allowed three or less goals in nine of their last 11 games.
The Blues are 0-5 in their last 5 road games, 0-7 in their last 7 vs. Western Conference and 1-8 in their last 9 overall. The Sharks are 8-3 in their last 11 games playing on 3 or more days rest, 2-5 in their last 7 Thursday games and 4-1 in their last 5 home games. The Blues are 10-4 in the last 14 meetings in San Jose, the road team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings and the under is 1-0-3 in the last 4 meetings.
Picking the St. Louis Blues in their current form isn't something I'm trying to do, as they've lost eight of their last nine, five straight on the road and are getting peppered defensively, which is unusual for this team. The San Jose Sharks have been hit or miss all season long, but they're well rested and usually put together an honest effort on their home ice. I'm going to back the Sharks here as more of a fade from the Blues, who seem to be falling apart rather quickly.
