NHL action comes to the Scotiabank Saddledome where the Calgary Flames host the New York Islanders.
The New York Islanders postseason hopes were hanging by a thread a few weeks ago but any longer with the team in the midst of an eight game slide. Neither end of the ice has been able to come up big in this stretch with the offense hurting the team in Thursday’s 2-1 SO loss at the Edmonton Oilers.

The Islanders took a 1-0 lead at 1:54 of the third until the Oilers scored the equalizer with Connor McDavid lighting the lamp with just 50 seconds remaining in regulation. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and McDavid scored in the shootout to make a winner of Cam Talbot and his 30 stops while New York received 35 saves from Christopher Gibson.
The Calgary Flamess haven’t been able to sustain enough consistency at either end of the ice which has the team staring at 5th in the Pacific needing wins to bolster their postseason drive. Calgary is shooting for a three game winning streak following a 2-1 victory at Ottawa on Friday.
Calgary opened the scoring in the first on a Sam Bennett tally before Matt Stajin doubled the lead at 11:42 of the third. The Senators got on the board 1:13 later with Jean-Gabriel Pageau scoring but both defenses took over from there. David Rittich made 29 stops to get the win for the Flames while Mike Condon stopped 35 shots in defeat.
