The Chicago Blackhawks look to score a pivotal road win as they head into Winnipeg to face off with the Jets on Thursday night.
The Blackhawks look to keep their faint playoff hopes alive with a road win against the Winnipeg Jets who are firmly in second place in the Central, and things won’t be easy for Chicago as Winnipeg is a staggering 30-9 in their last 39 games on home ice. Chicago has had a very disappointing campaign and have been among the league’s most frustrating teams to cap as they seem to get themselves up against quality opponents and fall flat against the doormats and as such we have seen a very inconsistent season from the Hawks who are a dismal 1-9 in their last 10 games on the road. Chicago still has a very solid roster but have some glaring holes that need to be addressed in free agency or through the draft and as the losses continue to pile up they will look at a better draft pick.

The Jets meanwhile have been the complete opposite to the Hawks this season as they have exceeded expectations and are looking like a serious threat to win the Stanley Cup as they are loaded across the board and have been one of the league’s best teams on home ice this season. Winnipeg has beaten up on teams with a losing record this season and the Hawks certainly fit the bill here and while Jonathan Toews will be out to give his hometown fans something to cheer about they will be hard pressed despite recent success in the MTS Centre. The Jets will look for a big win here as they aim to chase down the Predators for top spot in the division but at the moment it looks like vying for home ice should be their biggest concern.
Chicago is 1-5 in their last six following a win and 6-14 in their last 20 overall while the Jets are 1-5 in their last six Thursday games and 4-1 in their last five against a team with a losing record. Chicago has won 11 of their last 13 in Winnipeg so might be worth a look here but the Jets are too good at home right now and should be the play.
