The Washington Capitals visit Metropolitan rival the New York Rangers in an NHL bout on Monday.
The Washington Capitals have finally began looking like the team of the past several years and that has kept the team atop the Metropolitan. Washington has won seven of eight after downing Montreal 6-4 where the Habs received two goals from Charles Hudon with Alex Galchenyuk and Brendan Gallagher also scoring while Carey Price allowed six goals on 30 shots.

The explosive Capitals attack saw Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson each score twice with Jay Beagle and TJ Oshie also finding the back of the net. Nicklas Backstrom added four helpers and Philipp Grubauer made 17 stops to get the win.
The New York Rangers have had great difficulty getting their scoring and defense on the same page which is why the team is on the outside looking in at the playoffs. New York snapped a three game skid with a 5-1 win versus Buffalo where Sam Reinhart scored for the Sabres and Robin Lehner allowing four goals on 12 shots before Linus Ullmark stopped 10-11 shots in relief.
Jimmy Vesey gave the Rangers attack a boost with a pair of goals with Chris Kreider, Neal Pionk and Mika Zibanejad also scoring. Kevin Hayes gave New York a pair of assists and Alexandar Georgiev recorded 43 saves to pick up the win and improve to 4-3-1.
Over is 5-0 in Capitals last 5 vs. Metropolitan and over is 7-1 in Capitals last 8 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game and Capitals are 7-1 in their last 8 overall. Over is 3-0-1 in Rangers last 4 home games and over is 7-0-1 in Rangers last 8 overall and over is 5-0-1 in Rangers last 6 games playing on 1 days rest. I might be a slow learner but I’m not convinced Washington has suddenly become a consistent force. I’m also not touching this game…
