The Colorado Avalanche look to pull off a huge road victory and improve their playoff standing as they face off against the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Monday night.
The Avalanche head into Sin City on Monday night looking to stay in a playoff spot in the Western Conference as they currently hold a one point lead on the Blues and Kings for the top wild card spot in a race that figures to come own to the wire with only seven games remaining. The Avs have surprised a ton of people with their run to the playoffs this season as any had them pegged for a lottery team once again but the play of Nathan Mackinnon has propelled them into a wild card spot and if they can hold on they could very well pull off the first round upset, and it could come against the Knights who they are facing off against in this one. The Avs are 6-2 in their last eight games overall and are a perfect 6-0 in their last six contests when playing on a Monday which bodes well for them here as a huge road dog.

The Knights meanwhile are looking to secure top spot in the Pacific division and for what was once a foregone conclusion for them to do so is quietly becoming a tight race as the Knights are just six points up on the San Jose Sharks. Las Vegas has cooled off considerably over the last few weeks and have struggled against teams with a winning record and have slid to a 1-4 mark in their last five games to begin the week and with Colorado’s season hanging in the balance this could very well be a spot where the Knights are a let down.
The Avalanche are 16-45 in their last 61 road games and 5-1 in their last six playing on one day’s rest while the Knights are 25-10 in their last 35 home games and 2-5 in their last seven against the West. Colorado needs a win here and while the Knights would love to snap their lising ways I don’t see it happening here against Colorado.
