The Nashville Predators look to inch closer to wrapping up the Central division as they welcome the Minnesota Wild to town in a game that has huge playoff implications.
The Wild head into Nashville on Tuesday night looking to create some separation on the rest of the pack in the wild card picture as they take on a Preds side who is coming off a 6-5 loss to the Winnipeg Jets in their last outing and will be looking to rebound on home ice with seven games left in the regular season. Minnesota currently occupies the the third seed in the Central division and if they playoffs ended today they would match up with the Winnipeg Jets in the first round, but things can change in a hurry as they are only three points up on the Avalanche for the first wild card spot and are only three points clear of the the outside of the playoff picture so they know that each passing game is if utmost importance.

The Predators meanwhile are currently five points clear of the Jets for top spot in the division and barring an absolute collapse down the stretch seem poised to claim top spot in the Western Conference by a comfortable margin, but they still are very much in the mix for top spot in the league standings. Nashville has a ton of weapons across the board and are not going to be an easy team to deal with come playoff time as they have a Vezina caliber goaltender, one of the league’s best blue lines, and a forward group that can score with any line and with their play both on the road and at home they look destined to return to the Cup final again this season.
The Wild are 5-1 in their last six Tuesday games and are 7-3 in their last 10 road games while the Preds are 5-0 in their last five Tuesday games and 16-5 in their last 21 playing on one day’s rest. Minnesota is the more desperate team here as their playoff lives are hanging in the balance and for the price they are getting they are more than worth a look.
