The Line: Boston Bruins / Tampa Bay Lightning --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Tampa Bay Lightning and Boston Bruins meet up in a battle of league titans on Thursday night with division crown implications at stake.
The Lightning look to stay red hot on the road as they head into the TD Garden to take on the Boston Bruins in what should be a very exciting contest and with the team’s separated by just a single point and the Bruins having a game in hand this could very well decide who lands top seed in the Eastern Conference. Tampa has a star studded offense, a great defense, and a goaltender in Andrei Vasilevskiy who has had a Vezina caliber season but he will face off against a Bruins side that has been even stingier in the defensive zone and has the second fewest goals against in the entire NHL. Tampa does have the league’s best offense by a country mile though and if their top six forwards are clicking they are very tough to slow down and in their most important game of the season you can be sure that Tampa’s big guns will be out in full force.
USA TODAY Sports
The Bruins are an impressive 25-7-5 at home this season and with Tuukka Rask having a spectacular season in the Boston crease they are on the short list of teams who should be considered Stanley Cup contenders. Boston is a very impressive 15-4 in their last 19 games against Atlantic division foes and have won 41 of their last 58 games and with Tampa coming to town they will look to continue their recent dominance of their division rivals as the B’s are 32-7-4 in their last 43 meetings against the Lightning on home ice.
The Bolts are 5-1 in their last six road games and 23-9 in their last 32 against a team with a winning record while the Bruins are 24-7 in their last 31 against the East and 20-7 in their last 27 home games. This is going to be a very exciting game and in one that figures to come down to the wire I’ll take the home side who has the edge defensively and in goal.
