The St. Louis Blues continue their pursuit of a playoff spot as they head into Sin City to battle the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Friday night.
The Blues have been one of the hottest teams in the league over the last two weeks as they are 8-2 in their last 10 contests and have won six in a row overall which has them right in the thick of things in the wild card hunt and they could very well unseat the Wild for third in the Central division. St. Louis has had an up and down season but they are peaking at the right moment and could very well make some noise as they are very stingy in the defensive zone, have some very talented pieces in the offensive zone, and a goaltending tandem in Jake Allen and Carter Hutton who have stepped up to keep St. Louis’ playoff hopes intact. St. Louis is 5-1 in their last six against the West but will have their work cut out for them against the Knights who have been one of the best home ice teams in the league this season.

The Golden Knights meanwhile have been the story of the league this season as they not only secured a playoff spot but could very well lock up top spot in the Western Conference with a strong finish to the season. The Golden Knights have defended home ice like nobody else this season and with a 9-1 stretch in their last 10 games against a team with a winning road record and are 26-11 in their last 37 games at home but the Blues are desperate and need to get a victory here to ensure they are still in the mix come playoff time. Jake Allen is expected to get the start in goal for the Blues as he will face off against three-time Cup champion Marc-Andre Fleury who is having an incredible season in the Vegas crease.
The Blues are 4-1 in their last five against a team with a winning record and have hit the under in 12 of their last 15 Friday games while the Knights are 1-4 in their last five Friday games and have hit the under in their last four home games. St. Louis and Vegas will go toe to toe here and it should come down to the wire which will keep this one under the total.
