The Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames meet Saturday in NHL action at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Edmonton Oilers look for a spark of consistency here after splitting their last eight games. The Edmonton Oilers are averaging 2.8 goals per game and are scoring on 14.6 percent of their power play opportunities. Connor McDavid leads Edmonton with 41 goals, Leon Draisaitl has 44 assists and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has 148 shots on goal. Defensively, the Edmonton Oilers are allowing 3.2 goals per game and are killing 75.6 percent of their opponents power plays. Cam Talbot has given up 178 goals on 1,919 shots faced and Laurent Brossoit has allowed 40 goals on 343 shots. The Edmonton Oilers have allowed three or less goals in six of their last eight games.

Calgary Flames vs. Edmonton Oilers - 3/31/18 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Calgary Flames could use a bounce back win here to snap a seven-game losing streak. The Calgary Flames are averaging 2.6 goals per game and are scoring on 16.3 percent of their power play opportunities. Sean Monahan leads Calgary with 31 goals, Johnny Gaudreau has 59 assists and Matthew Tkachuk has 188 shots on goal. Defensively, the Calgary Flames are allowing three goals per game and are killing 80.6 percent of their opponents power plays. Mike Smith has given up 139 goals on 1,650 shots faced and David Rittich has allowed 49 goals on 512 shots. The Calgary Flames have allowed three or more goals in eight of their last nine games.

The Oilers are 4-1 in their last 5 Saturday games, 1-4 in their last 5 vs. Western Conference and 5-2 in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest. The Flames are 1-5 in their last 6 home games, 1-4 in their last 5 games playing on 1 days rest and 0-7 in their last 7 overall. The Oilers are 7-1 in the last 8 meetings and the over is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings in Calgary.

Always tough to pick a game between two teams that have nothing to play for late in the season, and I usually give the edge to the home team. However, I'm not trying to back a Calgary Flames squad that's seven straight and has been getting destroyed on the defensive end during that stretch. The Edmonton Oilers have been able to sneak in wins here and there recently and have owned the Flames over the years, which includes winning three of the four meetings this season. I'll side with the Edmonton Oilers as a fade from the Flames.
