The season is winding me down for the New York Rangers in the regular season with the team struggling on the defensive end of the ice. New York comes off of a 2-1 victory at the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday where the defense carried the day.
USA TODAY Sports
The Hurricanes lone goal came off the stick of Jeff Skinner in the third period with Cam Ward taking the loss with 18 saves. Ryan Sproul and Kevin Hayes supplied second period goals for New York with Henrik Lundqvist stopping 40 shots to pick up the win.
The New Jersey Devils enter the final week of the regular season playing some of their best hockey of the season. New Jersey has won five of six following a 2-1 victory at the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday where their defense took center stage.
The Canadiens saw Daniel Carr score on the power play in the first with Carey Price getting the loss with two goals allowed on 32 shots. The Devils offense was held in check until the third period where Nico Hischier and Taylor Hall lit he lamp with Keith Kinkaid recording 25 saves.
Under is 3-0-1 in Rangers last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and Rangers are 0-4 in their last 4 Tuesday games and over is 6-1-1 in Rangers last 8 vs. a team with a winning record. Over is 4-0 in Devils last 4 vs. Metropolitan and over is 4-0 in Devils last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and Devils are 6-1 in their last 7 vs. Eastern Conference. Over is 5-0-2 in the last 7 meetings in New Jersey and Rangers are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in New Jersey and home team is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings.
I favor New Jersey but I’m not all that comfortable with the regulation with these playing each other close to he vest. I’d do something on the over pending goalies…
