The Colorado Avalanche look to shake up the NHL playoffs with a win at the Nashville Predators.
The Colorado Avalanche entered 2017-18 looking to break the 50 point barrier but dramatic improvement at both ends of the ice have the team in the postseason. Colorado boasts a top ten offense at 3.1 goals behind Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog.

The Avalanche might be score by committee when looking past the top contributors with offensive depth being a question mark. The Avs were middle of the pack defensively at 2.9 goals allowed with Semyon Varlamov picking up 24 wins with a 2.68 GAA while Jonathan Bernier won 19 games with a 2.85 GAA.
The Nashville Predators have gone from a team sneaking in to the playoffs as the 8th seed in 2016-17 to winning the Presidents Trophy with a 53-18-11 record. The #7 Predators offense averaged 3.1 goals behind Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson, Craig Smith and Kevin Fiala.
Defenseman PK Subban scored 16 goals and posted 43 assists to finish third on the team in points to lead a strong blue line. Vezina candidate Pekka Rinne gave the team 42 wins on a 2.31 GAA and .927 save percentage so the team is not sneaking up on anyone now.
Avalanche are 1-5 in their last 6 Thursday games and over is 5-1-1 in Avalanche last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and Avalanche are 1-4 in their last 5 vs. a team with a winning record. Predators are 6-0 in their last 6 Conference Quarterfinals games and over is 4-0 in Predators last 4 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400 and under is 3-0-3 in Predators last 6 Conference Quarterfinals games. Over is 13-3-1 in the last 17 meetings in Nashville and over is 16-5-1 in the last 22 meetings and Avalanche are 7-20 in the last 27 meetings in Nashville.
The one area that Nashville has concerns is they led the league in being shorthanded and if Colorado can exploit this area they have a shot. I just don’t think the Predators are going to overlook the Avs here…
