The Las Vegas Golden Knights look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead as they head into Los Angeles on Sunday to face off against a desperate Kings side.
They say a team is not in trouble in the playoffs until they lose a game on home ice and with that adage in mind the Golden Knights head into the Staples Center looking to send the Kings to the brink of elimination after they won their first two playoff games in franchise history in games one and two. The Knights claimed a 1-0 shutout win to start the series and followed that up with a 2-1 victoey in double overtime thanks to an Eric Haula marker and now the Knights will look to continue their remarkable campaign with yet another win against their Pacific division rivals in a run that includes a 20-7 stretch against division foes. The total in this series is going to continue moving South which each passing game and we have already seen it drop a half goal down to a flat five and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it approach the 4.5 mark as the games continue to unfold.

The Kings meanwhile were a trendy pick to make a deep run in the Western Conference playoffs thanks to their first round draw against the inexperienced Knights team but they find themselves in a two game hole and need a bounce back effort on home ice here in a must win game. The Kings are a miserable 4-13 in their last 17 Sunday games and are winless in their last four conference quarterfinal games but they have rebounded nicely after scoring two or fewer in their previous game and that is exactly the situation the Kings find themselves in in this contest. Los Angeles has played to the under in their last seven home games and have played to fewer than six in five of their last six against the Golden Knights which makes the under another intriguing play tonight.
The Knights are 10-1 in their last 11 Sunday games and are 5-2 in their last seven overall while the Kings are 4-1 in their last five home games and 2-5 in their last seven against the Pacific. Vegas has won the first two games of this series but a bounce in LA’s favour could very well have them up by two games as this series has been incredibly close. Look for the Kings to respond and make this a 2-1 series after Sunday’s action.
