The Winnipeg Jets look to finish off the Minnesota Wild and book their ticket to the second round as the two sides meet up in Manitoba on Friday night.
The Wild dropped a pivotal game four on home ice against the Jets and now have their backs against the wall as they head back into Winnipeg in a doe or die situation in game five but chances of them extending this series look incredibly bleak according to the odds makers. Minnesota was dealt a serious blow in the final stretch of the regular season after it was learned that Ryan Suter would miss the rest of the season and then in game three they lost Zach Parise who is likely to be out for this one as well which puts them in a very tough spot. Minnesota has struggled mightily on the road of late and against a very good Winnipeg side who always seems to get up for games at home this could very well be the end of the road for a Wild group that always seems to fall short come playoff time. Devan Dubnyk will get the nod as he will face off with Connor Hellebuyck who was brilliant in the victory in game four.

The Jets meanwhile got back in the win column after getting waxed in game three and are in the driver’s seat in this series back on home ice and with a staggering 40-11 in their last 51 games at home and a 9-1 mark in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record certainly supports the idea of them winning the series tonight. Winnipeg is one of the deepest teams in the league and a lot of their success comes from their fire power offensively, but with guys like Dustin Byfuglien stepping up on the blue line and Hellebuyck showing why he is a Vezina Trophy finalist illustrates that the Jets can win in a number of ways and that they are a team to watch out for the rest of the way.
The Wild are 1-4 in their last five against the Central and winless in their last five trips to Winnipeg while the Jets are 5-0 in their last five Friday games and 20-8 in their last 28 games following a win. Look for this to be the last of the Wild this season as the Jets get it done and get some rest heading into the next round.
