The San Jose Sharks look to take the series lead as they head back to Las Vegas to match up with the Golden Knights in game five of their Pacific division series.

The Sharks take to the road looking for their second win in three tries against the Knights in Las Vegas but they will have their work cut out for them here after blanking their Pacific division opponents by a 4-0 final in a pivotal game four victory on Wednesday evening. San Jose played their best game of the playoffs and held the Golden Knights in check in the offensive zone and sent four shots past Marc-Andre Fleury who has far and away been Vegas’ best player in these playoffs, and now the two sides meet up in a very important game five in what could very well determine the outcome of this series and who will move on to the Western Conference finals. San Jose has been very good against division rivals this season and are 22-5 in their last 27 against the Pacific division and are 6-2 in their last eight contests going back to the opening round in which they made quick work of the Anaheim Ducks.

Vegas Golden Knights vs. San Jose Sharks - 5/4/18 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

The Golden Knights meanwhile continue to prove doubters wrong and are just two wins away from claiming the Stanley Cup in their inaugural season which would be unprecedented to think of, not just in hockey but in any major sport. The Knights have been lethal on home ice this season and are 31-12 in their last 43 at T-Mobile Arena but they are just 3-1 in the playoffs on home ice and will need a fast start and ride the energy of the crowd if they’re going to retake the series lead and find a way to solve Martin Jones who looked excellent in the team’s game four win. Vegas has generated so much success this season by virtue of wins over teams with a winning record and with a 9-2 stretch in their last 11 games they should be considered a decent favourite to win in this spot on Friday night.

The Sharks are 5-1 in their last six playing on one day’s rest and 10-4 in their last 14 following a win while the Knights are 6-2 in their last eight against the Pacific and 5-2 in their last seven after losing by three or more in their previous game. San Jose and Vegas have put on a show so far and with two lopsided affairs and two close contests I expect to see this one more of the latter but both teams should keep it close and have this one stay under.
