Thursday NHL action brings us to T-Mobile Arena where the Vegas Golden Knights host the Washington Capitals in game five of the Stanley Cup finals.
The Vegas Golden Knights couldn’t get either end of the ice on the same page in game four at Washington and the result was a 6-2 defeat on Monday. Vegas has defied the odds in their first season in existence but now the team faces a 3-1 series deficit.

The Golden Knights were held off the scoreboard until the third where James Neal scored at 5:53 followed by a Reilly Smith tally at 12:26 that cut the deficit to 4-2. That was close as Vegas would get as Marc-Andre Fleury allowed all six goals on 25 shots.
The Washington Capitals are on the brink of erasing years of frustration with Monday’s game four victory pushing their series lead to 3-1 heading to game five at Vegas. Washington dominated the opening frame with TJ Oshie (PP), Tom Wilson and Devante Smith-Pelly all scoring for a 3-0 lead heading to the second.
John Carlson lit the lamp with the man advantage to give the Caps a 4-0 advantage after 40 minutes. Washington saw Vegas score twice in the third before Michal Kempny and Brett Connolly restored their four goal lead.
The Caps saw Oshie add an assist while Nicklas Backstrom logged a pair of assists followed by Evgeny Kuznetsov who added three helpers to make a winner of Braden Holtby and his 28 saves.
Under is 3-0-1 in Capitals last 4 Thursday games and Capitals are 1-5 in their last 6 Thursday games and under is 5-1-2 in Capitals last 8 overall. Golden Knights are 16-2 in their last 18 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and Golden Knights are 7-1 in their last 8 vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and Golden Knights are 1-5 in their last 6 games playing on 2 days rest.
The Golden Knights have been tough on home ice and will have to be in top form to slow Washington down. People said the Golden Knights wouldn’t lose three straight and are now saying there is no way the Capitals can win four in a row. Why not?
