The Edmonton Oilers and the Boston Bruins meet in NHL action from the TD Garden on Thursday night.

The Edmonton Oilers will look for their first win of the season after falling to the New Jersey Devils in their season opener by a final score of 5-2. Edmonton found themselves a goal down less than a minute in before Milan Lucic equalized just 3 minutes later. Edmonton then allowed 3 unanswered goals through the 2nd and part of the 3rd period, and Leon Draisaitl pulled a goal back before an empty net goal iced the Oilers in the loss. Cam Talbot took the loss after allowing four goals on 26 shots to drop to 0-1 this season.

Perry Nelson-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Bruins will look to build on back-to-back victories including a 6-3 triumph over the Ottawa Senators in their home opener last time out. Patrice Bergeron opened the scoring with 2 first period markers for the B’s in the game, while completing the hat trick 4:38 into the 3rd period. David Pastrnak added a pair of goals in the final frame and Chris Wagner scored a goal in his hometown debut. Pastrnak also added a pair of assists to tie Bergeron for the team lead in the game with 4 points while Brad Marchand and Charlie McCoy each had 3 assists in the win. Tuukka Rask picked up the win after allowing all 3 goals on 31 shots to improve to 1-1 this season.

Edmonton is 0-4 in their last 4 road games and 2-6 in their last 8 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against the Eastern conference. Boston is 2-5 in their last 7 games overall and 23-8 in their last 31 home games while the over is 8-1-3 in their last 12 games following a win. Edmonton is 3-9-1 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams in Boston.

I can’t read too much into Edmonton’s loss as the Oilers traveled all the way to Sweden for that game so jet lag probably played a part in that. However, I’m not letting the Oilers completely off of the hook as now they go into a hostile environment in Boston that’s one of the toughest places to go on the road and win and it’s also a place that Edmonton hasn’t had much luck over the last few years. All in all, I think this is Boston’s game to lose, so I’ll lay the juice with the Bruins here.
