The Buffalo Sabres welcome the Colorado Avalanche to town in Thursday NHL action.
The Colorado Avalanche licked off the season with back to back victories but the momentum was not carried in to a 5-2 defeat at Columbus on Tuesday. Nathan MacKinnon and Carl Soderberg tallied second period goals for the Avalanche but Philipp Grubauer was charged with four goals to get the loss.

Nick Foligno paced the Blue Jackets attack with a pair of goals while Pierre-Luc Dubois, Artemi Panarin and Josh Anderson lit the lamp. Alexander Wennberg added a pair of helpers for Columbus and Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 25 shots to get the win.
After getting shutout by Boston in the season opener Buffalo has put things together for consecutive victories following a 4-2 win versus Vegas. Jonathan Marchessault and Erik Haula provided the offense for the Golden Knights with William Karlsson adding two assists. Marc-Andre Fleury took the loss for Vegas with four goals scoring on 17 shots.
The Sabres received a pair of goals off the stick of Jack Eichel with Marco Scandella and Jason Pominville also finding the back of the net. Kyle Okposo logged two assists and Carter Hutton turned in a 35 save performance for Buffalo.
Under is 7-1-1 in Avalanche last 9 following a loss of 3 or more goals and Avalanche are 5-1 in their last 6 after allowing 5 goals or more in their previous game and Avalanche are 5-1 in their last 6 vs. Atlantic. Over is 7-2 in Sabres last 9 vs. Central and over is 7-2 in Sabres last 9 overall and Sabres are 17-56 in their last 73 vs. Central. Over is 10-2-1 in the last 13 meetings and over is 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings in Buffalo and Avalanche are 12-3 in the last 15 meetings.
The Sabres look to keep the early win streak going and Colorado wants to avoid back to back road losses but I believe the over is better then finding the winner here…
