The New Jersey Devils and the Philadelphia Flyers meet in NHL action from the Wells Fargo Centre in NHL action on Saturday afternoon.

The New Jersey Devils will be looking to rebound from their first loss of the season coming in the form of a 5-3 loss to Colorado in their last outing. Nico Hischier opened the scoring for NJ before the Devils gave up a pair of goals followed up by a Taylor Hall equalizer to sit at 2-2 after 40 minutes. Brian Boyle gave the Devils a 3-2 lead but New Jersey would cough up 3 goals the rest of the way, including a hat trick to Colorado’s Gabe Landeskog in the losing effort for the Devils. Keith Kinkaid took his first loss of the season, allowing four goals on 33 shots to fall to 4-1-0 this season.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. New Jersey Devils - 10/20/18 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Flyers will look for a home win to get back to .500 after falling to 3-4-0 with a 6-3 loss to Columbus in their last outing. Travis Konecny and Sean Couturier gave the Flyers a pair of first period one goal leads, but Columbus would respond and eventually take a 4-2 lead at the end of 40 minutes. Oskar Lindblom would pull it back to 4-3, but that’s as close as Philly would get as Columbus would shut the door down the stretch for the win, sending the Flyers back empty-handed. Calvin Pickard took the loss, falling to 2-1-0 this season after allowing 6 goals on 28 shots in the losing effort.

New Jersey is 6-0 in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record and 0-4 in their last 4 road games while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 division games. Philadelphia is 1-4 in their last 5 division games and 1-5 in their last 6 home games while the over is 17-6-3 in their last 26 games overall. New Jersey is 21-9 in the last 30 meetings between these two teams and 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams in Philadelphia.

The Devils let one slip away against the Avs, but I think they have a good chance at bouncing back here. Philadelphia has yet to find their footing consistently, while the Devils have not only gotten off to the better start this season, they’ve also owned Philadelphia in this matchup so I’ll side with the Devils on the road to get the win here.
