The Dallas Stars and the Montreal Canadiens meet in NHL action from the Bell Centre on Tuesday night.

The Dallas Stars could use a bounce back win after losing 4 of their last 6 games, including a 4-2 loss to Detroit in their last outing. Gemel Smith gave the Stars a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes and Detroit tied the game after the 2nd period. Tyler Bertuzzi and Jonathan Ericsson gave the Red Wings a 3-1 lead that nearly lasted the whole 3rd period, but Radek Faksa would cut the deficit in half to make it 3-2 with 37 seconds to go. Justin Abdelkader put the game on ice for Detroit with an empty netter just 13 seconds later. Ben Bishop took the loss to fall to 4-4-0 this season after stopping 19 of 22 shots in the defeat.

Montreal Canadiens vs. Dallas Stars - 10/30/18 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

The Montreal Canadiens will look to keep their momentum going with points in 6 of their last 7 games following a 3-0 shutout win over Boston in their last outing. Brendan Gallagher and Max Domi scored 1:21 apart to give the Habs a 2-0 first period lead and the game would stay that way until Jordie Benn potted an empty netter to give Montreal the victory late in the 3rd period. Carey Price got the win with his first shutout of the season, stopping all 33 shots he faced in the winning effort.

Dallas is 1-10 in their last 11 games against the Atlantic division and 3-13 in their last 16 games against the Eastern Conference while the over is 6-2-1 in their last 9 road games. Montreal is 4-0 in their last 4 home games and 5-2 in their last 7 games overall while the over is 9-3-1 in their last 13 games following a win. Dallas is 1-4 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams and 0-5 in the last 5 meetings between these teams in Montreal.

I was both surprised and not surprised that Dallas lost to Detroit, surprised because I thought the Stars were farther ahead of Detroit than they were, but not surprised because Dallas has struggled against the East and more specifically the Atlantic division dating back to last season. Add in the fact that the Stars have had issues with Montreal, and are winless on the road and mix in Montreal’s solid form at home, and I think you have to lay the juice with the Habs in this spot.
