The Vegas Golden Knights and the Nashville Predators meet in NHL action from the Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday night.
The Vegas Golden Knights will look to build some momentum after pulling off a 4-3 overtime win over Ottawa in their last outing. Ottawa held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes and a 2-0 advantage at the halfway point of the game, but that deficit would vanish by the end of the 2nd thanks to goals from Alex Tuch and Ryan Reaves. Ottawa re-established their lead in the 3rd but the lead would last all of 28 seconds as Alex Tuch added a 2nd goal. Then Jonathan Marchessault converted a penalty shot in the extra frame to give the Knights the win and the extra point. Marc-Andre Fleury got the win to improve to 5-4-1 this year after stopping 19 of 22 shots faced in the win.

The Nashville Predators will look to rebound after a 5-3 loss to the Oilers in their last outing. Edmonton held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes and 2-0 in the early stages of the 2nd before the Predators finally got on the board late in the 2nd thanks to a goal from Filip Forsberg. The Oilers would re-build their 2 goal cushion right off the restart, scoring 7 seconds later to give Edmonton a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes. Edmonton added a 4th before Forsberg completed his hat trick with a pair of goals in the 3rd to bring Nashville back to 4-3, but that’s as close as the Preds got, as the Oilers potted an empty netter to secure the Predators defeat. Juuse Saros took the loss to fall to 5-2-0 this season after allowing 4 goals on 34 shots in the losing effort.
Vegas is 5-0 in their last 5 games against the Central division and 1-5 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. Nashville is 45-21 in their last 66 games overall and 13-4 in their last 17 games against the Pacific division while the over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 home games.
Vegas has turned things around since their slow start to the year, gaining points in 5 of their last 6 games but I’m a tad bit concerned that the Knights were taken to the limit by the Senators, who many pegged to be in the higher spots of the draft lottery this season. Nashville losing to the Oilers was a bit of a surprise given their history with Edmonton, winning the previous 12 meetings, but the Oilers have been playing well lately in their own right. As far as this game goes, I think this is a game that’s going to be tight from start to finish so I’ll side with the under between two teams that are in the top-10 in goals against this season.
