The New Jersey Devils look for their first road win of the season as they head into the Motor City to do battle with the Red Wings on Tuesday night.
The Devils look to snap out of their six game road losing skid that extends back to last season as they face off with the Red Wings who are coming off a big win against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. New Jersey has beaten up on teams with a losing record as they are 7-1 in their last 8 contests and they certainly match up well with a Red Wings side who might have one of the thinnest rosters in the league. New Jersey is a woeful 10-29 in their last 39 Thursday games and 3-7 in their last 10 against foes from the Eastern Conference but they have had their way in this series with the Wings and should be in good shape once again here. Keith Kinkaid is expected to get the start as he will face off against Jimmy Howard.

The Red Wings meanwhile are far removed from their stretch as one of the league’s most consistent and well run organizations as they are no longer the playoff threat we all came to know them as. Detroit has lost two of their best in successive seasons as Pavel Dastyuk and Henrik Zetterberg have left the team and they are continuing to try and fill the void left by the future Hall of Famers who were vital to the team’s success offensively. The Wings are a miserable 1-6 in their last 7 home games and aren’t in a good position here against a Devils side looking to get back in the discussion as an Eastern Conference playoff team.
The Devils are 2-5 in their last 7 against the Atlantic and 5-1 in their last 6 when their opponent scores 5 or more in their previous game while the Red Wings are 1-4 in their last 5 against the Metro and 6-13 in their last 19 games on one day’s rest. The Devils are the better team and have had success in Detroit and that continues here as a road favourite.
