The Dallas Stars and the Toronto Maple Leafs meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Arena on Thursday night.

The Dallas Stars will look to keep their momentum going with wins in 3 of their last 4 games following a 4-1 win over Montreal in their last outing. The game was scoreless after 20 minutes before Esa Lindell and Miro Heiskanen gave the Stars a 2-0 lead after the 2nd period. Montreal would pull a goal back early in the 3rd, but Devin Shore re-established the 2 goal margin with a goal, his 3rd point of the night and Alexander Radulov added an empty netter to secure the win for Dallas. Ben Bishop got the win to improve to 5-4-0 this season after stopping 34 of the 35 shots that he faced in the winning effort.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Maple Leafs will be looking to find some sort of consistency after splitting their last 6 games, including a 3-1 loss to Calgary in their last outing. The game was a 0-0 tie through 40 minutes of play before Calgary struck twice in a :55 span to take a 2-0 lead. Nazem Kadri cut the deficit in half and Toronto nearly tied the game on an inadvertent whistle but it was all for naught as Michael Frolik added an empty netter for the Flames. Frederik Andersen took the loss, falling to 6-4-0 this season after allowing 2 goals on 33 shots in the losing effort.

Dallas is 3-12 in their last 15 road games and 1-10 in their last 11 games against the Atlantic division while the under is 3-0-1 in their last 4 games against the Eastern Conference. Toronto is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 11-3 in their last 14 games against the Eastern Conference while the under is 7-0 in their last 7 games overall. Dallas is 0-4 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams and 0-6 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Toronto.

Toronto’s loss to Calgary was a bit to be expected as it was the Leafs’ first game without Auston Matthews but you’d still expect their depth to be able to carry the load. Dallas is pretty much at full strength, but the problem is that Dallas is not the team you want to be backing on the road, as they’ve had no success against the Eastern Conference or the Atlantic division and have had no luck on the road dating back to last season. The Stars have also had their struggles against Toronto, including a 7-4 loss earlier this season, so I’ll side with Toronto to bounce back with a win at home here.
