Washington has not won back to back games this season and lost a chance to do so in Thursday’s 6-4 defeat at Montreal. Washington saw Lars Eller score twice with Alex Ovechkin lighting the lamp two times in the second. Matt Niskanen posted to assists with Braden Holtby getting the loss for the Capitals with five goals allowed on 38 shots.
The explosive Canadiens offense received a pair of goals from Jespei Kotkaniemi and Brendan Gallagher with Max Domi and Joel Armia also lighting the lamp. Tomas Tater added two helpers and Carey Price picked up the win for the Habs with four goals scoring on 31 shots.
