The New York Islanders welcome the Montreal Canadiens to the Big Apple for Monday NHL action.
The Montreal Canadiens saw an opportunity for consecutive victories go by the wayside in a 4-1 loss to visiting Tampa Bay on Saturday. Max Domi gave Montreal a 1-0 lead just 58 seconds after the opening faceoff but Carey Price couldn’t make it stand with four goals scoring on 36 shots.

Steven Stamkos topped Tampa Bay with a pair of goals while JT Miller and Yanni Gourde also found the back of the net. Anton Stralman logged three assists and Andrei Vaslevskiy stopped 34 shots for the Lightning.
The New York Islanders find themselves at the top of the Metropolitan thanks to five straight victories capped off by a 3-0 win against visiting New Jersey on Saturday night. The Devils offense was silent which made the 32 save effort of Keith Kinkaid a loss.
Jordan Eberle scored a power play goal in the first for New York with Brock Nelson doubling the lead in the third before Scott Mayfield hit the empty net. Josh Bailey added a pair of assists for the Islanders and Thomas Geiss got the win with an impressive 35 stop performance.
Over is 9-1-1 in Canadiens last 11 vs. Metropolitan and Canadiens are 21-5 in their last 26 games following a home loss of 3 or more goals and under is 4-1-1 in Canadiens last 6 vs. a team with a winning record. Islanders are 4-0 in their last 4 games following a win and under is 4-0 in Islanders last 4 home games and Islanders are 5-0 in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference. Canadiens are 7-1 in the last 8 meetings in New York and Canadiens are 12-4 in the last 16 meetings.
The trends heavily favor Montreal as the Canadiens seem to matchup well with New York but I’ll still go with the hot home team…
