Elias Patterson and Brock Boeser led the Canucks offensive explosion with two goals each while Loui Eriksson and Markus Grandlund scored in regulation. Derrick Pouiliot tallied in overtime to secure the two points for Vancouver who received 23 saves from Jacob Markstrom.
The Detroit Red Wings have been trying to dig themselves out of an early season hole and were doing just that until a 4-3 loss to Edmonton ended a three game winning streak. Jacob De La Rose, Danny DeKeyser and Tyler Bertuzzi scored for Detroit with Jonathan Bernier giving up four goals on 42 shots to get the loss.
Kyle Brodziak topped the Oilers offense with a pair of goals with Drake Caggiula and Alex Chiasson also reaching the scoring column. Jujhar Khaira and Connor McDavid posted two assists each and Edmonton received 23 saves from Mikko Koskinen.
