The Arizona Coyotes and the Philadelphia Flyers meet in the second half of a home-and-home set in NHL action from the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night.
The Arizona Coyotes will look to bounce back after dropping the home leg of the set by a final score of 5-2 on Monday night. The Coyotes found themselves down 2-0 before Alex Galchenyuk cut the lead in half, but Arizona would fall behind 4-1 before Richard Panik added a consolation marker, falling short in the losing effort. Darcy Kuemper took the loss between the pipes, falling to 2-2-0 this season after allowing 4 goals on 33 shots.

The Philadelphia Flyers will look to build on their win against the Coyotes in their last outing. Claude Giroux and Shayne Gostisbehere each added a goal to help Philly jump out to a 2-0 lead before Sean Couturier and Giroux struck again to give the Flyers a 3-1 and 4-1 lead that they would not relinquish. Oskar Lindblom added an empty netter to secure the victory for the Flyers in the victory. Calvin Pickard ended up with the win to improve to 3-1-1 this season after allowing 2 goals on 36 shots in the winning effort.
Arizona is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia is 2-7 in their last 9 home games and 1-5 in their last 6 games following a win while the over is 10-4-1 in their last 15 home games. The road team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
It’s always hard to sweep a team in a home and home situation, but winning the opener on the road helps. The problem for Philly is that the Flyers have had trouble following up wins and have had little luck at home dating back to the end of last season. Plus the road team has had all of the success when these two meet up dating back to last season. I think the Coyotes are playing well enough to warrant backing them on the road so I’ll side with the Coyotes for the split on Thursday.
