The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Washington Capitals meet in NHL action from the Capital One Arena on Friday night.
The Columbus Blue Jackets will be looking to build on a 4-1 win over the Dallas Stars in their last outing. Anthony Duclair opened the scoring with a minute to go in the 1st period and Markus Nutivaara and Nick Foligno gave the Jackets a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes. Jamie Benn pulled one back for the Stars but Ryan Murray would add an empty net goal to close the door and give CBJ the win. Sergei Bobrovsky stood tall, allowing the lone goal on 28 shots to improve his record to 4-6-0 this season.

The Washington Capitals will be looking to build on back-to-back victories following their 2-1 triumph over the Pittsburgh Penguins in their last outing. Sidney Crosby gave the Pens the lead at 1-0 after 20 minutes of play, but Alex Ovechkin would tie the game at 1-1 after the 2nd period and the game stayed that way until late in the 3rd when T.J. Oshie became the hero potting the game-winner on a wide open net to get the victory for the Caps. Braden Holtby picked up the win to improve to 5-3-2 this season after stopping 41 of 42 shots faced in the winning effort.
Columbus is 1-4 in their last 5 games following a win and 1-5 in their last 6 games against the Metropolitan division while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Washington is 101-44 in their last 145 home games and 2-5 in their last 7 games against the Eastern Conference while the over is 6-2-1 in their last 9 games overall. Columbus is 0-4 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams and 4-11 in the last 15 meetings between these two teams in Washington.
The Jackets got a solid win over Dallas last time out, but the fact is that Columbus has struggled with consistency over the last couple of weeks and have had issues following up a win. Washington has been strong on their home ice, and have had their way with Columbus in this matchup, so I think going with Washington at home is the way to go here.
