The Detroit Red Wings and the Boston Bruins meet in NHL action from the TD Garden on Saturday night.

The Detroit Red Wings come into this game looking to build on a 4-3 win over the St. Louis Blues in their last outing. We had a scoreless stalemate through 20 minutes of play, before Thomas Vanek, Andreas Athanasiou and Tyler Bertuzzi helped the Wings jump out to a 3-0 lead by the 11:04 mark of the 2nd frame. St. Louis would cut that deficit to just one goal by the end of 40 minutes and would tie the game just before the midway point of the 3rd period before Bertuzzi would strike again, potting what would eventually be the game-winner with just under seven minutes to go. Jimmy Howard got the win between the pipes, improving to 8-6-3 after stopping 33 of the 36 shots faced in the winning effort.

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Bruins will look to build some steam after picking up a 2-1 shootout victory over the New York Islanders in their last outing. The Isles opened the scoring just after the halfway point of the 1st period, giving the Islanders a 1-0 lead at the 1st intermission before Brad Marchand would tie the game at almost the same point in the 2nd period. There was no other scoring the rest of the way, and overtime solved nothing, sending us to the shootout where no goals were scored until the 4th round, when Bruins forward Ryan Donato scored the shootout winner. Tuukka Rask got the win, improving to 6-4-2 this season after stopping 28 of the 29 shots he faced in regulation and overtime in addition to all 4 shots faced in the shootout.

Detroit is 24-50 in their last 74 road games and 14-37 in their last 51 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 division games. Boston is 37-15 in their last 52 home games and 10-3 in their last 13 games against the Eastern Conference while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 division games. Detroit is 7-19 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams and 0-11 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams in Boston.

The heavy plus money with Detroit is tempting, considering the Bruins are still battling injuries and the Red Wings have picked up their play as of late. However, Boston is still winning games as well, and Detroit has had literally zero success in the TD Garden for a few years now, and I don’t see that changing here. So to negate the heavy juice, I’ll side with Boston on the puck line.
