The Carolina Hurricanes and the Anaheim Ducks meet in NHL action from the Honda Center on Friday night.
The Carolina Hurricanes will look for a bounce back performance to snap a 3-game losing streak after a 5-1 loss to San Jose in their last outing. The Sharks jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the 1st period and a 4-0 lead before Carolina got on the board with a goal from Lucas Wallmark that was the only goal that the ‘Canes would score in the losing effort. San Jose chipped in a 5th goal to seal the deal and add to Carolina’s woes with the L. Curtis McElhinney took the loss, falling to 7-3-1 on the year after allowing all 5 goals on 23 shots in the losing effort.

The Anaheim Ducks will look to build on their winning streak which currently sits at 5 games after a 4-2 win over Chicago in their last outing. Brandon Montour and Daniel Sprong scored :20 apart to take a 2-0 lead early in the opening period, before Chicago erased that deficit by the end of the 2nd period, sending us to the final frame with a 2-2 tie. Ondrej Kase gave the Ducks the lead just 4:03 into the 3rd and Jakob Silfverberg iced the game with an empty netter late in the final period. John Gibson got the win to improve to 11-8-4 this season after stopping 25 of 27 shots faced in the winning effort.
Carolina is 1-4 in their last 5 games overall and 2-6 in their last 8 road games while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games against the Western Conference. Anaheim is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall and 11-2 in their last 13 games against the Metropolitan division while the under is 7-1 in their last 8 games against the Eastern Conference. Carolina is 3-13 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams and 1-6 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams in Anaheim.
Okay, unless there’s something I’m missing here, I have no idea why we’re getting the Ducks at this cheap of a price. The Ducks are rolling right now while the Hurricanes are slumping, and Anaheim has had the majority of the success when these two teams have met over recent years. The Ducks also do their best work at home while the Hurricanes have struggled on the road. I’m not going to ask questions, I’m just going to lay the cheap price with Anaheim here.
