The Florida Panthers and the Dallas Stars square off in NHL action from the American Airlines Center on Thursday night.
The Florida Panthers will look to build on back-to-back wins after a 2-1 win over St. Louis in their last outing. Brett Connolly and Mike Hoffman got their names on the score sheet for the Panthers in the winning effort while Aleksi Saarela had a pair of assists and Evgenii Dadonov added an assist of his own as well in the victory. MacKenzie Weegar led the Panthers with 4 shots on goal while Erik Haula, Jonathan Huberdeau and Josh Brown each had 3 shots on target in the win. Chris Driedger got the win between the sticks for the Panthers, improving his record to 7-2-1 on the year after stopping 26 of 27 shots faced in the winning effort.
The Dallas Stars will be out to snap a six-game losing streak after a 4-2 loss to the New York Rangers last time out. Andrew Cogliano and Roope Hintz were the goal scorers for Dallas in the loss with each logging 3 shots on goal while Miro Heiskanen had a pair of assists and a team-high 4 shots on target. Joe Pavelski and Corey Perry each had an assist as well in the defeat for Dallas. Ben Bishop took the loss, falling to 21-16-4 on the year after allowing all 4 goals on 27 shots faced in the losing effort.
Florida is 5-2 in their last 7 road games and 1-4 in their last 5 games overall while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games against the Western Conference. Dallas is 0-6 in their last 6 games overall and 1-4 in their last 5 home games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the Atlantic division. The home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
As a Leafs fan, I want the Panthers to lose because they’re chasing Toronto in the playoff race. But as a betting man, we’re getting plus money with a desperate Florida team that needs wins to keep pace in the playoff race and also fading a Dallas team that’s lost 6 in a row coming into this one. I wouldn’t be surprised if Dallas broke out of their funk here, but I think there’s just too much value with the Panthers to pass on here.
