Dominik Hasek is the latest person on this list coming during the 1997-98 season. During that season, Hasek played in 72 games and averaged 2.09 goals per game. That is a high number for the rest of the people on this list, but the NHL is a different sport from it’s early days.

All the way back in 1926-27, George Hainsworth finished the season with 14 shutouts. He finished the season with 28 wins and 14 losses. If he was winning the game, 50 percent of the time it was by a shutout.

2.Alex Connell -15 Shutouts

During the 1925-26 NHL season, Alex Connell was one of the best goaltenders in the NHL, He finished season with a 24-8 record and 15 shutouts.

2.Hal Winkler -15 Shutouts

Hal Winkler finished the 1927-28 season with 15 shutouts. He finished the season with a 20-13 record and let in 1.51 goals per game.

Twice during his career, Alex Connell finished the season with 15 shutouts. The second time he did it was during the 1927-28 season. He only had 20 wins on the season, so 15 coming by knockout makes it even more impressive.

2. Tony Esposito -15 Shutouts

During the 1969-70 season, Tony Esposito made 63 starts in goal. He finished the year with 38 wins, 15 of those being by shutout. 

1.George Hainsworth -22 Shutouts

George Hainsworth had the most shutouts in one season, and it really wasn’t even close. Back in the 1928-29 season, at the age of 35, Hainsworth only gave up 0.92 goals per game and finished with 22 shutouts.
