The Nashville Predators and the Arizona Coyotes meet in game two of their best-of-five qualifying round series from Rogers Place on Tuesday afternoon.
The Arizona Coyotes will look to shock the Predators again and put Nashville in an 0-2 hole after Arizona emerged victorious with a 4-3 win in Sunday’s series opener.
Arizona jumped on Nashville early, with Oliver Ekman-Larsson opening the scoring just under eight minutes into the game before Christian Dvorak doubled the lead less than three minutes later. Clayton Keller pushed Arizona’s lead to 3-0 before Filip Forsberg responded for the Predators with less than three seconds to go in the first period. Mikael Grabner restored the three-goal lead for Arizona with a short-handed goal late in the second, the only goal of the middle frame. Ryan Ellis would cut the deficit to 4-2 with a goal for Nashville :30 into the third and Filip Forsberg made it 4-3 just before the nine minute mark of the 3rd but that’s as close as they would get as Darcy Kuemper slammed the door shut in Nashville’s face over the final 11 minutes to steal game one.
Darcy Kuemper got the win for Arizona after stopping 40 of 43 shots faced in the winning effort while Juuse Saros allowed four goals on 37 shots faced in defeat for the Predators.
Trends will be updated once they’ve been released.
This total seems really low even between two teams in Arizona and Nashville that were solid on the defensive end to start the year. I mean maybe somebody knows something, but the goaltending’s been shaky on both sides that the over seems like a relative layup here. I could easily see this one ending 4-2 so I’ll take the over as my pick for this game.
