Montreal Canadiens vs. Philadelphia Flyers – 8/18/20 NHL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Philadelphia Flyers and the Montreal Canadiens meet in game four of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarter-final series in NHL action from Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday night.

The Philadelphia Flyers will look to push the Canadiens to the brink of elimination after going up two games to one in the series by virtue of a 1-0 win over Montreal in game three last time out. Jakub Voracek opened the scoring for the Flyers just 5:@1 into the opening period and despite Montreal outshooting the Flyers 8-6 in the second and 10-6 in the 3rd period, the Habs simply didn’t have a response for Voracek’s opening goal as the Flyers held on for a huge win in response to Montreal’s 5-0 victory in game two.

Carter Hart got the win between the pipes for the Flyers after stopping all 23 shots faced in the winning effort while Carey Price ended up with the loss in goal for Montreal after allowing one goal on 20 shots faced in the losing effort.

Philadelphia is 12-2 in their last 14 games following a win and 6-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 9-0 in their last 9 games overall. Montreal is 2-5 in their last 7 Tuesday games and 1-5 in their last 6 conference quarter-final games while the under is 16-6-4 in their last 26 playoff games as an underdog. Philadelphia is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings between these two teams.

Philadelphia responded to Montreal’s butt-whooping in game two by stifling the Habs in game three and did it how they’ve been getting it done all year with rock-solid goaltending and some physical hockey which lends itself to what we normally see in the playoffs. Montreal’s had a good run, but I think we’re starting to see the Habs wear down and I think the Flyers push Montreal to the brink here.
