The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Nashville Predators meet in NHL action from Bridgestone Arena on Saturday night.
The Columbus Blue Jackets will look to bounce back after starting their year with a 3-1 loss to the Predators in their season opener on Thursday.
Boone Jenner opened the scoring for Columbus just over nine minutes into the first period and the lead held for the rest of the first and for a large chunk of the second period before Nashville tied the game at one off of the stikc of Luke Kunin. The tie held up for the rest of the second and the early part of the 3rd period before Filip Forsberg broke the deadlock for gooa, giving Nashville the lead just before the six minute mark of the 3rd period. Columbus would be mauled in the 3rd period, being outshot 13-3 and never really getting much of a chance to tie the game because Calle Jarnkrok added an empty net goal to secure the win and the points for the Predators.
Juuse Saros got the win after stopping 29 of 30 shots faced in the winning effort for Nashville while Joonas Korpisalo took the loss after allowing a pair of goals on 34 shots faced in defeat for Columbus.
Columbus is 7-19 in their last 26 games overall and 4-11 in their last 15 road games while the under is 8-1-1 in their last 10 games as a road underdog. The under is 6-2 in Nashville’s last 8 Saturday games and 9-4 in their last 13 games following a win. Columbus is 5-26 in the last 31 meetings between these two teams in Nashville.
I was originally leaning Columbus’ way for a bounce back and value spot, but the problem is that the Beavers just can’t win in Nashville and I think if they were going to, the first game was going to be their best chance as guys were still get back up to speed. But now it’s all level again and I think Nashville has the edge once again so I’ll lay the juice with Nashville in this one.
