The Anaheim Ducks and the Vegas Golden Knights meet in NHL action from T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to bounce back after dropping the first meeting of the season last time out by a final score of 5-2 against Vegas. Vegas jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with a pair of goals 1:06 apart from Jonathan Marchessault and Tomas Nosek within the first 2:13 of the game. Max Comtois tied the game at two with a pair of goals 3:36 apart to give us a 2-2 game eight minutes into the game. The score held up through the rest of the first, all of the end and early into the 3rd before Mark Stone gave Vegas the lead within the first minute of the 3rd. Max Pacioretty doubled the lead with nine minutes to go and Alex Tuch iced the win with an empty netter with seconds to go.
Robin Lehner got the win after stopping 20 of 22 shots faced in the winning effort for Vegas while John Gibson ended up with the loss after allowing 4 goals on 28 shots faced in the defeat.
Anaheim is 20-41 in their last 61 road games and 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games as a road underdog. Vegas is 16-5 in their last 21 home games and 15-5 in their last 20 games as a home favorite while the under is 7-1-1 in their last 9 games overall. Anaheim is 1-8 in the last 9 meetings between these two teams and 0-5 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams in Vegas.
I’m trying to make a case for Anaheim, but the problem is that their scoring issues are still around and the defense isn’t holding up very well either. I just think that Vegas is the far better team here, so I’ll back Vegas to continue their dominance over Anaheim and I’ll do so on the puck line.
