The Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks meet Friday in NHL action at the United Center.

The Detroit Red Wings look for a win here to get a game above a .500 record. The Detroit Red Wings are averaging 2.3 goals per game and are scoring on 14.3 percent of their power play opportunities. Bobby Ryan leads Detroit with four goals, Filip Zadina has two assists and Dylan Larkin has 15 shots on goal. Defensively, the Detroit Red Wings are allowing 2.5 goals per game and are killing 81.8 percent of their opponents power plays. Thomas Greiss has given up five goals on 71 shots faced and Jonathan Bernier has allowed four goals on 55 shots.

The Chicago Blackhawks could use a win here to rebound from a rough 0-3-1 record. The Chicago Blackhawks are averaging 2.3 goals per game and are scoring on 41.7 percent of their power play opportunities. Alex DeBrincat leads Chicago with two goals, Duncan Keith has four assists and Patrick Kane has 15 shots on goal. Defensively, the Chicago Blackhawks are allowing five goals per game and are killing 66.7 percent of their opponents power plays. Malcolm Subban has given up five goals on 33 shots faced and Collin Delia has given up 10 goals on 69 shots.

The Red Wings are 13-45 in their last 58 road games and 12-43 in their last 55 overall. The Blackhawks are 4-1 in their last 5 home games and 0-5 in their last 5 overall. The under is 15-7-3 in Red Wings last 25 overall. The over is 4-1 in Blackhawks last 5 overall. The Red Wings are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in Chicago and 1-4 in the last 5 meetings.

I’m not running to the window to back either of these teams, as they’ve been on the fade list dating back to last season. And while the Blackhawks should be the favorite based on being home and the Red Wings inability to string wins together, you can’t lay juice with Chicago in its current form. You just can’t. While it’s a small sample size, the Detroit Red Wings have been the better team this season. I’ll take my chances with the plus money.
