The Calgary Flames and the Winnipeg Jets meet in NHL action from Bell MTS Place on Monday night.
The Calgary Flames will look to build on a 2-0 win over Montreal last time out to snap a three-game losing streak. Johnny Gaudreau has 9 points with 5 goals and 4 assists and Elias Lindholm has 8 points with 6 assists while Sean Monahan has 7 goals with 5 assists. Matthew Tkachuk and Rasmus Andersson each have 5 points with Tkachuk logging 3 goals and Andersson putting up 3 assists while Mikael Backlund has 2 goals and 2 assists for his 4 points. Jacob Markstrom’s started the bulk of Calgary’s games this year, going 3-3 with 2 shutouts and a 2.18 GAA.
The Winnipeg Jets will look to rebound from a 4-1 loss to Vancouver in their last game. Nikolaj Ehlers leads the Jets in scoring with 11 points including 5 goals and 6 assists while Mark Scheifele has 10 points with 3 goals and 7 assists. Andrew Copp and Kyle Connor each have 4 goals and 5 assists for their 9 points while Blake Wheeler and Adam Lowry each have 8 points with Wheeler putting up 3 goals with 5 assists and Adam Lowry matching his 4 goals with 4 helpers. Connor Hellebuyck’s started the bulk of Winnipeg’s games, with a 4-2 record and a 2.67 GAA this season.
Calgary is 9-2 in their last 11 games as a favorite and 1-4 int heir last 5 road games while the over is 3-1-1 in their last 5 games following a win. Winnipeg is 9-4 in their last 13 home games and 5-11 in their last 16 games as a home underdog while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record. The home team is 14-6 in the last 20 meetings between these two teams.
I’m not sure which one of these sides I can trust right now as Calgary has issues keeping the puck out of the net, while one of Winnipeg’s better players hasn’t even taken the ice yet because he’s had to quarantine after being traded from a Canadian team. I think I’m going to side with the over here as I think both sides will get their fair share of scoring accomplished in this one and it’s a lean to Winnipeg at home but my main play here is the over.
