The Calgary Flames and the Winnipeg Jets meet in NHL action from Bell MTS Place on Thursday night.
The Calgary Flames will look to bounce back from a 3-2 loss to the Jets last time out. Johnny Gaudreau and Elias Lindholm each have 11 points with Gaudreau logging 6 goals with 5 assists while Lindholm has a team-high 9 assists. Matthew Tkachuk and Sean Monahan each have 8 points with Tkachuk logging 5 goals with 3 assists while Monahan has 2 goals with 6 assists on the year. Jacob Markstrom has a 4-3 record with a 2.27 GAA and a pair of shutouts in goal for Calgary while David Rittich has a pair of losses with a 3.56 GAA this season.
The Winnipeg Jets will look to build on their win over the Flames last time out. Mark Scheifele has 13 points with a team-high 9 assists while Nikolaj Ehlers has 12 points with 6 goals and 6 assists. Blake Wheeler and Kyle Connor each have 11 points with 3 goals and 8 assists while Connor has 6 goals with 5 assists. Andrew Copp has 10 points with 4 goals and 6 assists while Adam Lowry has 4 goals with 4 assists for his 8 points and Neal Pionk has 7 assists this season. Connor Hellebuyck has 4 wins with a 2.69 GAA while Laurent Brossoit has a pair of wins and a 2.98 GAA this year.
Calgary is 2-5 in their last 7 road games and 2-7 in their last 9 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 6-2-1 in their last 9 games as a road favorite. Winnipeg is 2-5 in their last 7 games following a win and 8-3 in their last 11 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games as a home underdog. The home team is 15-7 in the last 22 meetings between these two teams.
I get why Calgary would be favored if they were at home as the Flames have picked up a bit of steam as of late and haven’t been all that bad on the road. However, the Jets have been better over the course of the season as a whole and I’m still not solid on the Flames as a whole, as Jacob Markstrom can be shaky and David Rittich hasn’t seen much ice time and the Flames are also really reliant on the top part of their lineup for offensive production. The Jets just have a ton of balance and are playing extremely well right now and getting them with plus money at home feels like a steal. I’ll take the Jets in this spot.
