The Vancouver Canucks and the Winnipeg Jets meet in NHL action from Bell MTS Place on Saturday night.

The Vancouver Canucks will look to add to their 4-1 win over the Ottawa Senators in their last matchup. Quinn Hughes leads the Canucks in scoring with 11 points including a team-high 10 assists while Bo Horvat has 10 points with 5 goals and 5 helpers. Brock Boeser and J.T. Miller each have 9 points with Boeser logging 6 goals and 3 assists while Miller has 7 assists. Tyler Myers and Elias Pettersson each have 6 points with Myers putting up 5 assists while Pettersson has 3 goals and 3 helpers. Braden Holtby and Thatcher Demko have each made 5 starts this season, with Holtby going 3-2 with a 3.17 GAA while Demko’s gone 2-3 with a 3.65 GAA on the year.

The Winnipeg Jets will look to build off of a 6-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers in their last matchup last time out. Nikolaj Ehlers has 11 points to lead the Jets with 5 goals and 6 assists while Mark Scheifele is right behind with 10 poitns including a team-high 7 assists. Andrew Copp and Kyle Connor each have 9 points with 4 goals and 5 assists while Blake Wheeler has 8 points with 3 goals and 5 helpers and Adam Lowry has 7 points with 4 goals and 3 assists. Connor Hellebuyck’s seen the bulk of Winnipeg’s action with a 4-1 record and a 2.60 GAA while Laurent Brossoit has a 1-1 record with a 3.46 GAA this season.

Vancouver is 2-5 in their last 7 games overall and 1-4 in their last 5 road games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog. Winnipeg is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall and 9-3 in their last 12 home games while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games against the North division. Vancouver is 2-14 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams and 1-10 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams in Winnipeg while the favorite is 19-3 in the last 22 meetings between these two teams.

Vancouver appears to be back on track after routing the Ottawa Senators, but the real test comes now that the Canucks have to move on to a real team/real competition like what Winnipeg brings to the table. With that said, Connor Hellebuyck’s been solid for the Jets, but I’m worried they’re overworking him and that exhaustion is going to be a thing real soon while a couple of good starts over the lowly Senators doesn’t do a whole lot of needle moving for me with respect to Vanouver. Instead, I’m going to side with the over. Both teams are more than capable offensively and I just think we have a high-scoring, back and forth matchup on our hands here. Give me the over.
