The Colorado Avalanche and the San Jose Sharks meet in NHL action from the SAP Center on Monday night.

The Colorado Avalanche will look to build on a 6-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes in their last game. Nathan MacKinnon leads the Avs in scoring with 20 points coming on 5 goals and 15 assists while Mikko Rantanen has 18 points with 8 goals and 10 assists for his 18 points. Cale Makar has 14 points with 13 assists while Sam Girard’s got 13 points with 11 assists. Nazem Kadri and Joonas Donskoi each have 12 points with 6 goals and 6 assists. Philipp Grubauer leads the Avs in goal, posting 10 wins and a 2.01 GAA with a pair of shutouts.

The San Jose Sharks will look to bounce back from a 7-6 loss to St. Louis last time out. Logan Couture leads the Sharks in scoring with 18 points including 11 goals and 7 assists while Evander Kane has 15 points with 7 goals and 8 assists. Kevin Labanc, Tomas Hertl and Timo Meier each have 11 points with Hertl logging 6 goals and 5 assists while Meier has 4 goals with 7 assists and Labanc has 3 goals and 8 assists. Brent Bruns has 10 points with 4 goals and 6 assists as well this year. Martin Jones has posted a 6-6 record in 12 games played this season while Devan Dubnyk has served as backup, going 1-4 in 9 appearances.

Colorado is 20-8 in their last 28 road games and 37-18 in their last 55 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall  San Jose is 1-6 in their last 7 home games and 0-5 in their last 5 games as a home underdog while the over is 19-7 in their last 26 Monday games. Colorado is 4-23 in the last 27 meetings between these two teams in San Jose.

Both of these teams have had consistency issues as of late, but it just feels like the Caps have had more luck stringing wins together. On the other hand, San Jose doesn’t look like they could stop a beach ball right now and realistically the Sharks aren’t a team I’m looking to back for much of anything right now. Maybe the critics were right about this San Jose team before the season started. I’ll back Colorado on the puck line for the win by a couple of goals in this one.
