The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Chicago Blackhawks meet in NHL action from the United Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will look to bounce back from a 4-3 shootout loss to the Blachawks in their last game. Victor Hedman leads the Lightning in scoring with 22 points including a team-high 18 assists while Steven Stamkos is right behind with 21 points including 11 goals and 10 assists. Brayden Point has 20 points with 7 goals and 13 assists while Ondrej Palat has 18 points split between 9 goals and 9 assists. Mikhail Sergachev has 15 points with 14 assists and Anthony Cirelli and Alex Killorn each have 14 points for the Bolts this season. Andrei Vasileviskiy continues to see the bulk of Tampa Bay’s action between the pipes, going 14-4 with 3 shutouts and a 1.66 GAA this season.
The Chicago Blackhawks will look to build on their win over Tampa Bay from their last outing. Patrick Kane leads the Blackhawks in scoring with 37 points including 11 goals and a team-high 26 assists while Alex DeBrincat has 28 points split between a team-high 14 goals and 14 assists. Dominik Kubalik has 19 points with 9 goals and 10 assists while Mattias Janmark and Pius Suter each have 12 points with 7 goals and 5 assists apiece. Kevin Lankinen’s seen the bulk of Chicago’s action in goal, logging 9 wins and a shutout with a 2.57 GAA in 16 appearances this season.
Tampa Bay is 60-23 in their last 83 games overall and 73-35 in their last 108 road games while the under is 6-1-1 in their last 8 games as a favorite. Chicago is 10-4 in their last 14 games overall and 6-2 in their last 8 games as an underdog while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall. The favorite is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams.
I believe Tampa Bay is rightfully favored here and this is the kind of price we really should expect to see from the Lightning over the course of the season. However, the Blackhawks have already shown that they can hang with and beat the Lightning and the bottom line is we’re getting almost twice out money between two teams that both have 7 wins in their last 10 games. I’m not paying -200 for name brand, so I’ll take a shot with Chicago and the plus money in this spot.
