The Nashville Predators and the Tampa Bay Lightning meet in NHL action from the Amalie Arena on Monday afternoon.
The Nashville Predators will look to rebound from a 6-3 loss to the Lightning on Saturday. Filip Forsberg leads the Preds in scoring with 27 points including team-highs of 10 goals and 17 assists while Roman Josi has 14 assists as part of his 16 point tally this season. As a team, Nashville is averaging 2.3 goals per game on 31.4 shots per game with a 19.6% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.4 goals per game on 29.9 shots against per game with a 67% kill rate on the PK this season.
The Tampa Bay Lightning will look to build on their win over the Predators from Saturday night. Victor Hedman and Ondrej Palat each have 26 points with Hedman leading the Bolts with 21 assists while Palat has 11 goals and 15 helpers this season. Steven Stamkos has 25 points with a team-high 12 goals and Brayden Point’s on 25 points with 15 assists. As a team, Tampa Bay is averaging a league-best 3.7 goals per game on 30.7 shots per game with a 28.9% mark on the power play while allowing 2.3 goals per game on 27.9 shots per game against with an 86.7% kill rate on the PK this season.
Nashville is 1-4 in their last 5 road games and 2-8 in their last 10 games as a road underdog while the over is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record. Tampa Bay is 37-14 in their last 51 games overall and 57-23 in their last 80 games as a favorite while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games as a favorite. Nashville is 0-6 in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
I get why the plus money with Nashville continues to be tempting as it only takes one bounce for the dog to come through like we saw with Detroit against Tampa a few days ago. However, we saw Tampa’s dominance in the first game on Saturday and I think we see more of the same here. Nashville’s god awful on the road and the Lightning just aren’t a team that you can’t eb at your best against in these spots. I’ll lay the -1.5 with the Lightning here.
