The New York Rangers and the Philadelphia Flyers meet in NHL action from the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night.

The New York Rangers will look to bounce back from a 5-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils in their last matchup. Artemi Panarin leads the Rangers in scoring with 15 points coming on 5 goals and 10 assists while Pavel Buchnevich has 9 points with 4 goals and 5 assists. Adam Fox comes next with 7 points coming on a goal and 6 assists while Ryan Strome has 6 points with 4 goals and a pair of assists. Igor Shesterkin leads the Rangers in goal with 3 wins and a 2.36 GAA in his 10 starts for New York this season.

The Philadelphia Flyers will be out to build off of a 7-4 win over the Capitals in their last matchup on February 7th. James van Riemsdyk leads the Flyers in scoring with 18 points on 7 points and 11 assists while Jakub Voracek and Joel Farabee each have 12 points with Voracek logging 3 goals and 9 assists while Farabee has 6 goals and 6 helpers. Claude Giroux and Kevin Hayes each have 11 points with Giroux posting 10 assists while Hayes has 6 goals and 5 helpers. Carter Hart and Brian Elliott have had a split of the goaltending work for Philly, with Hart posting 5 wins and a 3.49 GAA in 9 appearances while Elliott’s had 3 wins and a shutout with a 2.19 GAA in 5 appearances.

New York is 3-13 in their last 16 games as an underdog and 1-6 in their last 7 road games while the under is 10-1 in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record. Philadelphia is 28-12 in their last 40 home games and 36-17 in their last 53 games overall while the over is 9-4 in their last 13 games overall. New York is 1-9 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams and 1-5 in the last 6 meetings between these two teams in Philadelphia.

I keep trying to see if I can come up for a reason to back the Rangers with the plus money, but the issue is that the goaltending just hasn’t carried over its success from last year as Igor Shesterkin just doesn’t look like the same goaltender that tore up the league in his small sample size. Philadelphia’s been rock solid like they were for the majority of last year, and we’re getting them at a steal of a price here. I’ll side with the Flyers on the money line in this one.
