The Tampa Bay Lightning and the Carolina Hurricanes meet in NHL action from the PNC Arena on Thursday night.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will look to bounce back from a 5-2 loss to Columbus in their last matchup, their first loss of the season. Steven Stamkos leads the Lightning in scoring with 6 points coming on 2 goals and 4 assists while Brayden Point and Victor Hedman each have 5 points with Point logging 2 goals and 3 assists while Hedman has 4 assists. Anthony Cirelli and Ondrej Palat each have 4 points with Palat logging 3 goals while Cirelli has 3 assists. Yanni Gourde and Alex Killorn each have a goal and 2 assists and Blake Coleman has 2 goals and an assist this year. Andrei Vasilevskiy has taken up all of the starts for Tampa Bay up to this point, going 3-1 with a 2.24 GAA this season.

The Carolina Hurricanes take the ice for the first time since January 18th after a COVID spell within the team, with the last performance coming up with a 4-2 win over Nashville last time out. Andrei Svechnikov leads the Hurricanes in scoring with 3 goals and 2 assists for his 5 points while Vincent Trocheck and Sebastian Aho each have 3 points with Trocheck logging 2 goals and an assist while Aho has a goal and two helpers. Dougie Hamilton, Jake Gardiner and Teuvo Teravainen each have 2 assists and Nino Niederreiter has a pair of goals. Petr Mrazek has a 1-1 record with a 1.53 GAA while James Reimer has a win and a 2.01 GAA after his lone start.

Tampa Bay is 47-18 in their last 65 games overall and 67-31 in their last 98 road games while the over is 9-4-2 in their last 15 games as a road favorite. Carolina is 2-6 in their last 8 home games and 9-19 in their last 28 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the under is 7-3-1 in their last 11 games overall. Tampa Bay is 20-6 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams and 14-5 in the last 19 meetings between these two teams in Carolina.

I get why plus money with Carolina would be tempting with the ‘Canes at home, but the fact is that the ‘Canes haven’t played in a week and a half and are missing key players like Teuvo Teravainen and Jesper Fast due to COVID. Tampa Bay’s scary enough to deal with at full strength and this line feels a bit funny even on the road with the Bolts at this price, but funny or not, it’s not often you get the Lightning at this price. I’ll take Tampa Bay on the road in this spot.
